Beresford, South Dakota is a city located in both Lincoln County and Union County in the state of South Dakota, United States. The city is part of the Sioux City metropolitan area.

History[edit]

Beresford was founded in 1873 and was originally named Paris. The name was changed to Beresford in 1884, after Lord Charles Beresford, a British admiral. The city was incorporated in 1884.

Geography[edit]

Beresford is situated at coordinates 43°4′52″N 96°46′35″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.64 square miles (4.25 km²), all of it land.

Demographics[edit]

As of the 2020 census, the population of Beresford was 2,180. The city has a diverse demographic profile with a mix of age groups and ethnicities.

Economy[edit]
