Lemmon, South Dakota

Lemmon is a city in Perkins County, in the state of South Dakota, United States. It is situated near the border with North Dakota. The city was founded in 1907 and named after George Ed Lemmon, a prominent cattleman in the area.

History[edit]

Lemmon was established in 1907 when the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad extended its line to that point. The city was named after George Ed Lemmon, a local rancher and businessman who played a significant role in the development of the area.

Geography[edit]

Lemmon is located at coordinates 45°56′N 102°9′W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.91 square miles (4.95 km²), all of it land. The city is situated in the northern part of Perkins County, near the Grand River.
