Gregory County is a county located in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,794. The county seat is Burke, and the largest city is Gregory.
History[edit]
Gregory County was established in 1862 and named after J. Shaw Gregory, a legislator. The county has a rich history tied to the development of the Great Plains and the westward expansion of the United States.
Geography[edit]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,052 square miles, of which 1,015 square miles is land and 37 square miles (3.5%) is water. The county is characterized by its rolling plains and agricultural land.
