Clinton County, Pennsylvania

Clinton County, Pennsylvania is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,450. Its county seat is Lock Haven. The county was created on June 21, 1839, from parts of Centre and Lycoming counties and named for DeWitt Clinton, the seventh Governor of New York.

Geography[edit]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 898 square miles (2,326 km²), of which 888 square miles (2,300 km²) is land and 10 square miles (26 km²) (1.1%) is water. The county is part of the Appalachian Mountains and features a mix of forests, rivers, and mountains.

As of the 2020 census, there were 37,450 people, 14,637 households, and 9,529 families residing in the county. The population density was 42 people per square mile (16/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.6% White, 2.1% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
