Cameron County is a county located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 4,467, making it the least populous county in Pennsylvania. The county seat is Emporium.

History

Cameron County was created on March 29, 1860, from parts of Clinton, Elk, McKean, and Potter counties. It was named in honor of Simon Cameron, a prominent Pennsylvania politician who served as United States Secretary of War under President Abraham Lincoln.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 398 square miles (1,030 km²), of which 396 square miles (1,030 km²) is land and 2.2 square miles (5.7 km²) (0.6%) is water.
