Dextromethorphan/bupropion

Dextromethorphan/bupropion is a combination drug used for the treatment of MDD and ADHD. It is a combination of Dextromethorphan, an NMDA receptor antagonist, and Bupropion, a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor.

Pharmacology[edit]

Dextromethorphan is a NMDA receptor antagonist and sigma-1 receptor agonist. It also has serotonin reuptake inhibiting properties. Bupropion is a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor and a nicotinic antagonist. The combination of these two drugs is believed to have a synergistic effect in treating MDD and ADHD.

Clinical Use[edit]

Dextromethorphan/bupropion is used for the treatment of MDD and ADHD. It is also being investigated for its potential use in treating neuropathic pain and obesity.

Side Effects[edit]

Common side effects of dextromethorphan/bupropion include nausea, dry mouth, insomnia, constipation, dizziness, and sweating. Serious side effects may include seizures, mania, hypertension, and allergic reactions.
