Hyperspermia

Hyperspermia (/haɪpərˈspɜːrmiə/; from the Greek words hyper meaning "over" or "more", and sperma meaning "seed") is a condition in which a man produces a larger than normal volume of semen. Semen volume is considered large if it is over 5.5 ml per ejaculation.

Definition

Hyperspermia is not a disease or a health problem and it does not affect sexual function. It is simply a variation in semen volume. Some men with hyperspermia may have a higher than average sperm count, while others may have a normal or lower than average sperm count.

Causes

The exact cause of hyperspermia is unknown. It may be related to the length of time between ejaculations, with longer periods leading to larger volumes of semen. Other factors that may contribute to hyperspermia include age, diet, and overall health.

Symptoms

The main symptom of hyperspermia is a larger than normal volume of semen during ejaculation. Some men may also experience a longer than normal time to reach ejaculation.

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for hyperspermia as it is not a disease or a health problem. If a man is concerned about the volume of his semen, he should consult a healthcare provider.
