Talk therapy, also known as psychotherapy (pronounced psy·cho·ther·a·py), is a method of treating mental health disorders and emotional difficulties through the use of verbal communication.

Etymology

The term "talk therapy" is derived from the English words "talk" and "therapy". "Talk" comes from the Old English "talcan" which means "to tell or disclose", and "therapy" comes from the Greek "therapeia" meaning "healing".
