Consumer Behaviour (pronounced: /kənˈsjuːmər bɪˈheɪvjər/) refers to the study of individuals, groups, or organizations and the processes they use to select, secure, use, and dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and society.

Etymology

The term "Consumer Behaviour" is derived from the English words "Consumer" and "Behaviour". The word "Consumer" (pronounced: /kənˈsjuːmər/) comes from the Latin word 'consumere' which means 'to take up, eat, waste'. The word "Behaviour" (pronounced: /bɪˈheɪvjər/) is derived from the Old French 'behabiter' meaning 'to live, dwell'.
