Smoked Turkey is a flavorful and tender preparation of turkey, smoked over wood chips to impart a distinct smoky flavor.
Ingredients[edit]
- 1 whole turkey (10-15 lbs)
- 2 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 2 cups wood chips (like applewood or hickory), soaked in water for 30 minutes
Preparation[edit]
- 1. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (110°C).
- 2. Clean the turkey and remove any giblets.
- 3. Mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder together.
- 4. Rub the spice mixture all over the turkey.
- 5. Place the turkey in the smoker and add the soaked wood chips.
- 6. Smoke the turkey for about 30 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- 7. Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
Serving Suggestions[edit]
- Serve with keto-friendly sides like roasted vegetables, mashed cauliflower, or a fresh salad.
- Smoked turkey can also be sliced for sandwiches or salads.
