Kathleen Sebelius
Kathleen Sebelius (pronounced: kath-leen se-bel-ius) is an American politician who served as the 21st United States Secretary of Health and Human Services from 2009 to 2014. She was the second woman to hold this position.
Etymology
The name Kathleen is of Irish origin and means "pure". Sebelius is a surname of unknown origin.
Career
Sebelius was the Governor of Kansas from 2003 to 2009. Prior to that, she served as the Kansas Insurance Commissioner from 1995 to 2003. She was also a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995.
As the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Sebelius was responsible for implementing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. She also dealt with issues related to public health, Medicare, and Medicaid.
