Athletic Training

Athletic training (pronunciation: /æθˈlɛtɪk ˈtreɪnɪŋ/) is a healthcare profession that involves the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers are recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as allied health professionals.

Etymology

The term "athletic training" originates from the English words "athletic", derived from "athlete" (from the Latin "athleta", itself from the Greek "athlētēs"), and "training", from the Old French "traiener".
