St Catharine's College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1473, it is named after Saint Catharine of Alexandria. The college is informally known as "Catz".
History[edit]
St Catharine's College was founded in 1473 by Robert Woodlark, then Provost of King's College. The college was originally established as a small community of scholars studying theology and philosophy. Over the centuries, it has grown in size and scope, now offering a wide range of subjects.
Architecture[edit]
The college's main site is located on Trumpington Street, near the centre of Cambridge. The college buildings include a mix of architectural styles, from the medieval to the modern. The chapel, built in 1704, is a notable example of early 18th-century architecture.
