== Indo-Iranians ==

The Indo-Iranians are a branch of the larger Indo-European language family. They are historically significant for their contributions to the cultural and linguistic development of the regions they inhabited, which include parts of modern-day Iran, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

History

The Indo-Iranians are believed to have originated in the Eurasian Steppe around the 2nd millennium BCE. They are divided into two main groups: the Indo-Aryans and the Iranian peoples. The Indo-Aryans migrated to the Indian subcontinent, while the Iranian peoples settled in the Iranian plateau and surrounding areas.

Language

The Indo-Iranian languages form a major branch of the Indo-European languages. This branch includes languages such as Sanskrit, Avestan, Persian, and Pashto. These languages share a common ancestry and have evolved over millennia.

Religion

The religious beliefs of the Indo-Iranians have had a profound impact on the development of major world religions. The Indo-Aryans are associated with the early development of Hinduism and the composition of the Vedas. The Iranian peoples contributed to the development of Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions.

Culture

The Indo-Iranians have a rich cultural heritage that includes literature, art, and architecture. The Rigveda and the Avesta are among the oldest known texts in the Indo-Iranian tradition. Their art and architecture have influenced the cultural landscapes of the regions they inhabited.

Migration

The migration of the Indo-Iranians is a significant event in ancient history. The Indo-Aryans moved into the Indian subcontinent, where they integrated with the local populations and established the foundations of Vedic culture. The Iranian peoples spread across the Iranian plateau and Central Asia, influencing the development of the Achaemenid Empire and later Persian empires.
