Contiguous United States

Contiguous United States refers to the 48 United States that are connected directly on the continent of North America. Excluding Alaska, which is separated by Canada, and Hawaii, an island state in the Pacific Ocean, the contiguous United States forms the main bulk of U.S. territory. This term is often used in contrast to the term "continental United States," which includes Alaska alongside the contiguous states but still excludes Hawaii and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, and others.
