Teachers College, Columbia University is a graduate school of education, health, and psychology in New York City. It is affiliated with Columbia University and is located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Founded in 1887, Teachers College (TC) is the oldest and largest graduate school of education in the United States.
History
Teachers College was founded in 1887 by Grace Hoadley Dodge and Nicholas Murray Butler to provide a new kind of education for teachers. The college was originally established to prepare teachers to work in the rapidly growing public school system in New York City. In 1898, Teachers College became affiliated with Columbia University, and it has since been an integral part of the university.
