Sweet breads are a type of bread that are typically higher in sugar and often contain fruits, nuts, spices, and other sweet ingredients. They are popular in many cultures around the world and are often served as a dessert or breakfast item.

Types of Sweet Breads

Brioche is a French bread that is rich and sweet. It is made with a high proportion of eggs and butter, which gives it a tender, rich crumb and a golden color.

Challah is a Jewish bread that is often sweetened with honey. It is traditionally braided and is served on the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.

Cinnamon roll is a sweet roll served commonly in Northern Europe and North America. It consists of a rolled sheet of yeast-leavened dough onto which a cinnamon and sugar mixture is sprinkled over a thin coat of butter.

Panettone is an Italian sweet bread that is traditionally served during Christmas. It is a tall, dome-shaped bread that is filled with candied fruits and raisins.

Stollen is a German bread that is traditionally served during the Christmas season. It is a dense, rich bread that is filled with dried fruit, nuts, and often marzipan, and is dusted with powdered sugar.

Tsoureki is a Greek sweet bread that is traditionally served at Easter. It is a braided bread that is flavored with a spice called mahlepi and often has red-dyed hard-boiled eggs baked into it.

Hot cross bun is a spiced sweet bun made with currants or raisins, marked with a cross on the top, and traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, and India.
