List of Queens neighborhoods

List of Queens neighborhoods is a comprehensive guide to the various neighborhoods located within the borough of Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City. Queens is the easternmost borough and the largest in area. It is also the second-most populous borough in the city.

Overview[edit]

Queens is divided into 14 community districts, each served by a local Community Board. Each district contains several distinct neighborhoods. The neighborhoods in Queens are diverse in character, ranging from high-density urban areas to more suburban-like environments.

List of Neighborhoods[edit]

Northwestern Queens[edit]

  • Astoria: Known for its large Greek population, Astoria is a vibrant neighborhood with a diverse food scene and a strong sense of community.
  • Long Island City: Once an industrial area, Long Island City has transformed into a hub for the arts and home to a growing number of high-rise apartments and offices.
  • Sunnyside: A small, quiet neighborhood known for its diverse population and its close proximity to Manhattan.

Northeastern Queens[edit]

  • Bayside: A suburban-like neighborhood known for its excellent schools and active community organizations.
  • Flushing: One of the largest neighborhoods in Queens, Flushing is known for its bustling commercial areas and its large Asian population.

Central Queens[edit]

  • Forest Hills: A neighborhood known for its tree-lined streets, Tudor-style homes, and the Forest Hills Stadium, a historic tennis venue.
  • Rego Park: A residential neighborhood known for its diverse population and its large shopping center.

Southwestern Queens[edit]

  • Howard Beach: A neighborhood known for its waterfront homes and its close proximity to JFK Airport.
  • Ozone Park: A diverse neighborhood known for its Italian-American population and its horse racing track, the Aqueduct Racetrack.

Southeastern Queens[edit]

  • Jamaica: A large neighborhood known for its transportation hub, the Jamaica Station, and its diverse population.
  • Rosedale: A suburban-like neighborhood known for its quiet, tree-lined streets and its close proximity to JFK Airport.
