Financial District, Manhattan

The Financial District (sometimes abbreviated as FiDi) is a neighborhood located at the southern tip of Manhattan in New York City. It is a major financial hub, home to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Financial District is bounded by the West Side Highway on the west, the Brooklyn Bridge on the north, the East River on the east, and Battery Park on the south.

History

The Financial District has a rich history dating back to the early days of New York City. It was originally the site of the Dutch settlement of New Amsterdam, established in the early 17th century. The area has since evolved into one of the world's leading financial centers.
