Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a major international airport located in Newark, New Jersey, United States. History

Newark Liberty International Airport opened on October 1, 1928, making it the first major airport in the New York metropolitan area. It was originally named Newark Metropolitan Airport and later Newark International Airport. The airport was renamed Newark Liberty International Airport in 2002 to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks and to reflect its proximity to the Statue of Liberty.

Facilities

The airport covers 2,027 acres and has three runways and one helipad. It consists of three passenger terminals: Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal C.
