Chicken McNuggets

Chicken McNuggets (pronunciation: /ˈtʃɪkɪn məkˈnʌɡɪts/) are a type of chicken product sold by the international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's. They consist of small pieces of reconstituted boneless chicken meat that have been battered and deep fried.

Etymology

The term "Chicken McNuggets" is a combination of "Chicken" and "McNuggets". "Chicken" is derived from the Old English "cicen", meaning a young fowl. The "McNuggets" part of the name is a play on the word "nugget", which in this context refers to a small lump of something, in this case, chicken. The "Mc" prefix is often used by McDonald's to denote products specific to their brand.

Ingredients

Chicken McNuggets are made from white meat chicken, water, salt, and natural flavors. The batter includes ingredients such as wheat flour, yellow corn flour, and modified food starch. They are then fried in a mixture of vegetable oil (canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil) and an anti-foaming agent (dimethylpolysiloxane).
