Teachers College, Columbia University (TC) is the graduate school of education, health, and psychology of Columbia University, located in New York City. Founded in 1887, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of education in the United States.

History

Teachers College was founded by Grace Hoadley Dodge and Nicholas Murray Butler in 1887. It was originally established to provide a new kind of schooling for the teachers of the poor children of New York City. In 1898, it became affiliated with Columbia University, and in 1923, it was fully incorporated into the university.
