urinary tract - (pronounced) (YOOR-ih-NAYR-ee tract) The organs that produce urine and remove it from the body. The urinary tract is divided into two parts. The upper urinary tract includes the kidneys and the ureters. The lower urinary tract includes the bladder and urethra. The kidneys remove waste and excess fluid from the blood to make urine. Urine flows from the kidneys through the ureters to the bladder. It is stored in the bladder until it leaves the body through the urethra. Also called the urinary system
