Membranous urethra
Membranous Urethra

Etymology
The term "Membranous Urethra" is derived from the Latin word 'membrana' meaning 'skin' or 'membrane', and the Greek word 'ourethra' meaning 'urinary canal'.
Anatomy
The Membranous Urethra is approximately 1-1.5 cm long and is surrounded by the urethral sphincter, a muscle that controls the flow of urine from the bladder. It is located in the deep perineal pouch in males.
