Lobeglitazone

Lobeglitazone (pronounced loh-beh-glih-tah-zone) is a medication used in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. It belongs to the class of drugs known as thiazolidinediones, which work by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Etymology

The term "Lobeglitazone" is derived from the combination of the words "lobe" and "glitazone". "Lobe" is a reference to the liver, the organ in which the drug primarily acts, and "glitazone" is a common suffix for drugs in the thiazolidinedione class.

Usage

Lobeglitazone is used to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. This medication is used in combination with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is used when diet and exercise alone does not control blood sugar.

Mechanism of Action

Lobeglitazone works by helping to restore the body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering the blood sugar. It helps to decrease the amount of glucose that the liver produces and that the intestines or stomach absorb.
