Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty (pronunciation: Ee-man Ah-med Abd El A-ty) was an Egyptian woman who was once considered the heaviest living woman in the world.

Early Life

Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1980. She had always struggled with her weight, and by the time she was 11, she had become extremely obese.

Medical Condition

Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty suffered from a rare genetic disorder known as Monogenic obesity, which is caused by mutations in single genes and can result in extreme obesity. This condition made it difficult for her to lose weight through traditional methods such as diet and exercise.

Treatment

In 2017, Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty was flown to Mumbai, India, for a bariatric surgery. The surgery was successful, and she lost approximately 250 kg (550 lb) of her initial weight of 500 kg (1,100 lb).

Death

Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty died in September 2017 due to complications from her weight, including heart disease and kidney dysfunction.
