A Computer Scientist (pronunciation: /kəmˈpjuːtər ˈsaɪəntɪst/) is a professional who uses their knowledge of computer science to solve complex problems, develop software and hardware, and design and manage networks and systems.

The term "Computer Scientist" is derived from the words "computer", which comes from the Latin word "computare" meaning "to calculate", and "scientist", which comes from the Latin word "scientia" meaning "knowledge".
