Bonnie Henry
Bonnie Henry (pronounced /ˈbɒni ˈhɛnri/) is a prominent public health official in Canada. She is best known for her role as the Provincial Health Officer for British Columbia, a position she has held since 2018.
Etymology
The name Bonnie is of Scottish origin and means "pretty" or "charming". The surname Henry is of Germanic origin, derived from the name Heinrich, which means "home ruler".
Career
Bonnie Henry started her career in public health in Toronto, where she worked on controlling the spread of tuberculosis and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She later moved to British Columbia, where she was appointed as the Provincial Health Officer in 2018. In this role, she has been responsible for leading the province's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
