Amalgam Comics
Amalgam Comics was a publishing imprint shared by DC Comics and Marvel Comics, in which the two comic book publishers combined their characters into new ones. These characters first appeared in a series of twelve comic books published in April 1996, between issues #3 and #4 of the DC vs. Marvel crossover event. A second set of twelve comic books followed one year later in June 1997, but without the crossover event as a background. All 24 of these issues took place in a shared universe called the Amalgam Universe.
History
The Amalgam Comics imprint was a unique collaboration between DC Comics and Marvel Comics, two of the largest comic book publishers in the United States. The concept was to merge characters from both universes to create new, hybrid characters. This initiative was part of the larger DC vs. Marvel crossover event, which pitted characters from the two universes against each other.
Amalgam Universe
The Amalgam Universe is a fictional universe created by the merging of the DC Universe and the Marvel Universe. In this universe, characters from both publishers were combined to form new characters. For example, Superman and Captain America were combined to create Super-Soldier, while Batman and Wolverine were merged to form Dark Claw.
Notable Characters
- Dark Claw - A combination of Batman (DC) and Wolverine (Marvel).
- Super-Soldier - A combination of Superman (DC) and Captain America (Marvel).
- Amazon - A combination of Wonder Woman (DC) and Storm (Marvel).

The first wave of Amalgam Comics was released in April 1996, consisting of twelve one-shot issues. These issues were published between issues #3 and #4 of the DC vs. Marvel crossover event. The second wave was released in June 1997, also consisting of twelve one-shot issues. Each issue was presented as if it were part of a long-running series, complete with a fictional history and continuity.
