Captain America
Captain America is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Captain America Comics #1, which was published by Timely Comics, a predecessor of Marvel Comics, in March 1941. Captain America was designed as a patriotic super-soldier who often fought the Axis powers of World War II and was Timely Comics' most popular character during the wartime period. The popularity of superheroes waned following the war, and the Captain America comic book was discontinued in 1950, with a short-lived revival in 1953. Since Marvel Comics revived the character in 1964, Captain America has remained in publication.

Origin[edit]
Captain America is the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum to aid the United States government's efforts in World War II. Rogers is a patriotic superhero who wears a costume bearing an American flag motif, and he wields an indestructible shield that he throws as a projectile.
World War II[edit]
During World War II, Captain America fought alongside his sidekick, Bucky Barnes, and the two were instrumental in many Allied victories. However, near the war's end, Rogers was trapped in ice and survived in suspended animation until he was revived in modern times.
Modern Era[edit]
In the modern era, Captain America became a member of the Avengers, a team of superheroes dedicated to protecting the world from various threats. He has also been a central figure in many significant Marvel storylines, including the Civil War and Secret Empire arcs.
Powers and Abilities[edit]
Captain America possesses enhanced strength, agility, endurance, and reaction time due to the Super-Soldier Serum. He is also a master martial artist and tactician, and his shield is made of a unique vibranium-adamantium alloy, making it virtually indestructible.
