Meade County, South Dakota





Meade County is a county located in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 29,852. Its county seat is Sturgis. The county was created in 1889 and named for Fort Meade, which was named in honor of General George Meade.

Meade County is the largest county by area in South Dakota, covering approximately 3,471 square miles. The county is part of the Black Hills region and features a diverse landscape that includes rolling plains, rugged hills, and forested areas.
