Interstate 90 (I-90) is a major Interstate Highway in the United States. It is the longest Interstate Highway in the country, stretching from Seattle, Washington in the west to Boston, Massachusetts in the east. The highway spans a total of approximately 3,020 miles (4,860 km) and traverses through 13 states.

Route description

I-90 begins at an interchange with Washington State Route 519 in Seattle, Washington. It travels eastward, crossing the Cascade Range and passing through cities such as Spokane. The highway continues into Idaho, passing through Coeur d'Alene before entering Montana.

In Montana, I-90 passes through cities such as Missoula, Butte, and Billings. The highway then enters Wyoming, where it intersects with Interstate 25 in Buffalo.

Continuing east, I-90 travels through South Dakota, passing near Mount Rushmore and through cities like Rapid City and Sioux Falls. The highway then enters Minnesota, passing through Rochester and Albert Lea.

In Wisconsin, I-90 passes through cities such as La Crosse and Madison, before entering Illinois. In Illinois, the highway travels through Rockford and the Chicago metropolitan area, where it intersects with several major highways, including Interstate 94.

I-90 continues into Indiana, passing through Gary and South Bend, before entering Ohio. In Ohio, the highway passes through Cleveland and Erie.

The highway then enters New York, passing through cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany. I-90 continues into Massachusetts, passing through Springfield and Worcester, before reaching its eastern terminus in Boston, Massachusetts.

History
