The Halal Guys is a fast food restaurant chain, based in the United States, that specializes in halal cuisine. The chain was founded in 1990 by three Egyptian immigrants, who initially started as a hot dog cart in New York City. The Halal Guys is known for its platters and sandwiches, which are made with chicken, gyro meat, or falafel, and served with rice, lettuce, and tomatoes. The food is seasoned with a variety of spices and sauces, including a popular white sauce and a spicy red sauce.

History

The Halal Guys was founded by Mohamed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka, and Abdelbaset Elsayed. They started their business as a hot dog cart on the corner of 53rd Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. The cart quickly gained popularity among taxi drivers, and the founders decided to switch to serving halal food to cater to the large Muslim cab driver population.

In 2013, The Halal Guys started franchising their concept, leading to a rapid expansion across the United States and internationally. As of 2021, there are over 90 The Halal Guys locations worldwide.
