Wendy's (/ˈwɛndiz/) is an international fast food chain restaurant founded by Dave Thomas in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The company is known for its square hamburgers, sea salt fries, and the Frosty, a form of soft serve ice cream mixed with frozen starches.
Etymology
The name "Wendy's" was inspired by the nickname of founder Dave Thomas' daughter, Melinda Lou "Wendy" Thomas. The nickname "Wendy" was given to her by her siblings who couldn't pronounce her name correctly.
