Wolfgang Mückstein
Wolfgang Mückstein (born 5 July 1974) is an Austrian physician and politician. He served as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in the Second Kurz government and the Schallenberg government from 19 April 2021 to 8 March 2022.
Early Life and Education
Wolfgang Mückstein was born on 5 July 1974 in Vienna, Austria. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he earned his medical degree. Mückstein later specialized in general medicine and became a practicing physician.
Medical Career
Mückstein worked as a general practitioner in Vienna. He was known for his commitment to patient care and his advocacy for public health issues. He also co-founded a medical center in Vienna, which focused on providing comprehensive healthcare services.
Political Career
Mückstein entered politics as a member of the Green Party. On 19 April 2021, he was appointed as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in the Second Kurz government, succeeding Rudolf Anschober. His tenure continued under the Schallenberg government.
During his time as minister, Mückstein was involved in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria. He implemented various measures to control the spread of the virus and to ensure the availability of vaccines. Mückstein also focused on improving the healthcare system and addressing social issues related to health and care.
Resignation
On 8 March 2022, Wolfgang Mückstein resigned from his position as Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. He cited personal reasons for his resignation and returned to his medical practice.
Personal Life
Wolfgang Mückstein is married and has children. He continues to live in Vienna and remains active in the medical community.
