Austrian politician

Rudolf Anschober (born 21 November 1959) is an Austrian politician who served as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection from January 2020 to April 2021. He is a member of The Greens – The Green Alternative.

Early life and education

Rudolf Anschober was born in Wels, a city in Upper Austria. He pursued his education in Linz, where he studied to become a teacher.

Political career

Anschober began his political career as a member of the Austrian Green Party. He was elected to the Landtag of Upper Austria in 1997. Anschober served as a regional minister in Upper Austria, focusing on environmental issues, energy, and integration.

Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection

In January 2020, Anschober was appointed as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in the government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. His tenure was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he played a significant role in Austria's public health response.

Resignation

On 13 April 2021, Anschober announced his resignation from his ministerial position, citing health reasons. He was succeeded by Wolfgang Mückstein.
