Taube Tennis Center
Taube Tennis Center is a premier tennis facility located on the campus of Stanford University in Stanford, California. It serves as the home court for the Stanford Cardinal men's and women's tennis teams. The center is named after John Arrillaga and Richard L. "Dick" Gould, who were instrumental in its development and funding.
History[edit]
The Taube Tennis Center was inaugurated in 1997, replacing the old Stanford Stadium courts. The facility was named in honor of Taube Family Foundation's generous contributions. The center has since hosted numerous collegiate and professional tennis events, including the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.
Facilities[edit]
The Taube Tennis Center features 17 courts, including six stadium courts with seating for spectators. The main stadium court, known as the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, has a seating capacity of approximately 2,500. The facility also includes locker rooms, a training room, and a team lounge.
Events[edit]
The Taube Tennis Center has been the venue for several prestigious tennis tournaments, such as the Bank of the West Classic, which is part of the WTA Tour. It has also hosted the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships multiple times, showcasing the top collegiate tennis talent in the nation.
Notable Players[edit]
Many notable tennis players have competed at the Taube Tennis Center, including John McEnroe, Billie Jean King, and Serena Williams. The center has also been a training ground for numerous Stanford Cardinal tennis players who have gone on to achieve professional success.
Location and Access[edit]
The Taube Tennis Center is situated on the west side of the Stanford University campus, near the Arrillaga Family Sports Center. It is easily accessible by car and public transportation, with ample parking available for visitors.
