Razorline was an imprint of Marvel Comics created by filmmaker Clive Barker in the early 1990s. The imprint was part of Marvel's attempt to diversify its offerings and explore more mature and horror-themed content. Razorline consisted of four main titles, each featuring unique characters and storylines that were distinct from the traditional superhero fare.

History

Razorline was launched in 1993, during a period when Marvel Comics was experimenting with various new imprints and genres. Clive Barker, known for his work in horror literature and film, was brought on board to create and oversee the new line. The imprint aimed to blend horror, fantasy, and superhero elements, offering a darker and more mature alternative to Marvel's mainstream titles.

Titles

Razorline consisted of four main titles:

• Ectokid: Created by Clive Barker and written by James Robinson, this series followed the adventures of Dexter Mungo, a teenager who could see and interact with ghosts and other supernatural entities.
• Hokum & Hex: Written by Frank Lovece, this series centered around Trip Monroe, a stand-up comedian who gains magical powers and becomes a reluctant hero.
• Hyperkind: Created by Clive Barker and written by Fred Burke, this series featured a group of young heroes who gain superhuman abilities and must fight against an ancient evil.
• Saint Sinner: Written by Elaine Lee, this series followed Philip Fetter, a man who becomes a vessel for both good and evil entities, leading to a constant internal struggle.

Reception and Legacy

Despite the initial excitement and the involvement of Clive Barker, Razorline struggled to find a substantial audience. The titles were short-lived, with most of them being canceled after only nine issues. However, the imprint has since gained a cult following among fans of Barker's work and those interested in the more experimental side of Marvel Comics.
