Roy William Thomas Jr. (born November 22, 1940) is an American comic book writer and editor, best known for his work on The Avengers, X-Men, and Conan the Barbarian. He was the first successor of Stan Lee as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics.
Early life[edit]
Thomas was born in Jackson, Missouri. He developed an early interest in comic books and science fiction, which led him to become a prolific reader and eventually a writer.

Thomas began his professional career in the 1960s, initially working for DC Comics before moving to Marvel Comics. At Marvel, he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a prominent writer and editor.
Marvel Comics[edit]
At Marvel, Thomas is credited with co-creating several notable characters, including Wolverine, Vision, and Carol Danvers. He also played a significant role in the development of the Marvel Universe, expanding its mythology and introducing new concepts.
Conan the Barbarian[edit]
One of Thomas's most significant contributions to comics was his adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian. His work on the series is highly regarded and helped to popularize the sword and sorcery genre in comics.
