Europe is one of the world's seven continents, located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It comprises the westernmost peninsulas of the continental landmass of Eurasia, and it shares the continental landmass with Asia. Europe is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and Asia to the east.
Geography[edit]
Europe is the second smallest continent by surface area, covering about 10.18 million square kilometers (3.93 million square miles) or 2% of the Earth's surface and about 6.8% of its land area. The continent is traditionally divided into four regions: Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe.

Europe has a rich and complex history that has shaped the modern world. It was the birthplace of Western civilization, with ancient civilizations such as Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome laying the foundations for modern democracy, philosophy, science, and art. The continent has also been the site of significant historical events, including the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Industrial Revolution, and the two World Wars.
Politics[edit]
Europe is home to numerous sovereign states, each with its own government and political system. The continent is also known for its political and economic integration, most notably through the European Union (EU), a political and economic union of 27 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
Economy[edit]
Europe has one of the largest and most advanced economies in the world. The continent is a major center for trade, finance, industry, and technology. The Euro is the official currency of 19 of the 27 EU member states, known collectively as the Eurozone.
Culture[edit]
Europe is renowned for its cultural diversity and heritage. The continent has a rich tradition in literature, music, art, architecture, and cuisine. Europe is also home to many of the world's most famous landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and the Acropolis.
