Oxycodone/Ibuprofen
Oxycodone/Ibuprofen (pronunciation: ox-i-KOE-done/eye-byou-PRO-fen) is a combination medication used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It contains Oxycodone, a narcotic pain reliever, and Ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Etymology
The term "Oxycodone" is derived from codeine. It is a semi-synthetic opioid synthesized from thebaine, an opioid alkaloid found in the Persian poppy and one of the many alkaloids found in the opium poppy. "Ibuprofen" is derived from the words isobutyl, propionic, and phenyl, indicating its chemical structure.
Usage
Oxycodone works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain. Ibuprofen reduces inflammation and pain in the body by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, substances in the body that cause inflammation.
