Jiaoquan

Jiaoquan is a prefecture-level city in the westernmost part of Gansu province, People's Republic of China. It is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, as well as its strategic location along the ancient Silk Road.
History[edit]
Jiaoquan has a long and storied history, dating back to the Han Dynasty when it was established as a military outpost. It played a crucial role in the defense of the western frontier and was a key stop on the Silk Road, a network of trade routes that connected China to the Middle East and Europe.
Geography[edit]
Jiaoquan is located in the Gobi desert, with a harsh and arid climate. Despite this, it is home to a variety of plant and animal species adapted to desert life. The city is surrounded by mountains, including the Qilian Mountains and the Beishan Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop.
