Irwin Redlener
Irwin Redlener is an American pediatrician, public health advocate, and disaster preparedness expert. He is known for his work in child healthcare, disaster response, and public policy.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Irwin Redlener was born in Brooklyn, New York City. He completed his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University and earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Colorado Medical Center.
Career[edit]
Redlener has had a distinguished career in both medicine and public health. He co-founded the Children's Health Fund in 1987 with singer Paul Simon. The organization provides healthcare to underserved children in the United States through mobile medical clinics.
He has also served as the director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Earth Institute. In this role, he has been a vocal advocate for improving the nation's readiness for natural and man-made disasters.
