Emery County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,825. The county seat is Castle Dale, and the largest city is Huntington. The county was named for George W. Emery, governor of the Utah Territory in 1875.
History
Emery County was established in 1880, during a period of rapid settlement in central Utah. The county was named after George W. Emery, who served as the governor of the Utah Territory. The early economy of the county was based on agriculture, mining, and livestock.
