Italian humanitarian NGO

Emergency is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in Italy in 1994. The organization provides free, high-quality medical and surgical treatment to victims of war, landmines, and poverty. Emergency operates in conflict and post-conflict areas, offering healthcare services to those in need, regardless of their background or circumstances.
History[edit]
Emergency was founded by Gino Strada, a renowned Italian surgeon, along with his wife Teresa Sarti and a group of colleagues. The organization was established with the mission to provide medical care in war-torn regions, initially focusing on Afghanistan and Iraq. Over the years, Emergency has expanded its operations to include several countries across Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Mission and Values[edit]
Emergency's mission is to promote a culture of peace, solidarity, and respect for human rights. The organization is committed to providing healthcare based on the principles of equality, quality, and social responsibility. Emergency believes that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right and works to ensure that everyone receives the care they need, free of charge.
Operations[edit]
Emergency operates hospitals, clinics, and first aid posts in various countries. The organization is known for its high standards of medical care and its ability to operate in challenging environments. Emergency's facilities are equipped to provide a wide range of services, including surgery, pediatrics, and maternity care.
Afghanistan[edit]
