Delmadinone

Delmadinone is a synthetic steroidal progestin and antigonadotropin of the 17α-hydroxyprogesterone group. It is used in veterinary medicine, particularly in the treatment of hypersexuality and benign prostatic hyperplasia in male dogs.

Pharmacology

Delmadinone works by inhibiting the secretion of gonadotropins from the pituitary gland, which in turn reduces the production of testosterone by the testes. This leads to a decrease in sexual drive and activity, as well as a reduction in the size of the prostate gland.

Delmadinone is primarily used in veterinary medicine. It is administered to male dogs to manage conditions such as:
