CHRISTUS Health

CHRISTUS Health (/ˈkraɪstəs hɛlθ/) is a Catholic not-for-profit health system that includes almost 350 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers, and dozens of other health ministries and ventures.

Etymology

The name "CHRISTUS" is derived from the Latin word for "Christ," reflecting the organization's mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

History

CHRISTUS Health was formed in 1999 as a result of the merger between Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston and San Antonio. The organization's history, however, can be traced back to the 1866 founding of the first hospital by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Galveston, Texas.

Services

CHRISTUS Health offers a variety of services, including acute care, primary care, urgent care, long-term care, and home health. The organization also provides a range of specialized services, such as cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and pediatrics.

Locations

CHRISTUS Health operates in more than 60 locations across the United States, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia. The organization's headquarters is located in Irving, Texas.
