Beaver County is a county located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,110. The county seat and largest city is Beaver. The county was named for the abundance of beavers in the area.
History
Beaver County was established on January 5, 1856, by the Utah Territory legislature. The area was originally inhabited by the Paiute people before European-American settlers arrived. The county played a significant role in the early Mormon settlement of Utah.
Geography
Beaver County covers an area of approximately 2,592 square miles, of which 2,590 square miles is land and 2.1 square miles is water. The county is characterized by its mountainous terrain, including parts of the Tushar Mountains and the Mineral Mountains. The Beaver River flows through the county, providing a vital water source for agriculture and wildlife.
