Auburndale, Queens
Auburndale is a neighborhood located in the northeastern part of the New York City borough of Queens. It is bordered by Flushing to the east, Murray Hill to the south, and Bayside to the north. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 11.
History
The area was originally inhabited by the Matinecock Native American tribe. In the 17th century, Dutch and English settlers began to arrive. The neighborhood was named after Auburn, a village in England, by the New England Real Estate Company, who developed the area in the late 19th century.
Geography
Auburndale is characterized by its residential streets and suburban atmosphere. The neighborhood is primarily made up of single-family homes, with some multi-family homes and apartment buildings. The area is known for its tree-lined streets and well-maintained homes.

Auburndale is a diverse neighborhood, with a large population of Asian, Hispanic, and White residents. The neighborhood is also home to a significant number of families, with many schools and parks in the area.
Transportation
Auburndale is served by the Long Island Rail Road at the Auburndale station. The neighborhood is also served by several bus lines, including the Q12, Q13, Q28, Q31, Q76, and QM3. The Cross Island Parkway and Northern Boulevard are major thoroughfares in the area.
Education
Auburndale is part of the New York City Department of Education District 26, one of the highest performing school districts in New York City. The neighborhood is home to several public and private schools, including P.S. 32 State Street School and Holy Cross High School.

Several notable people have lived in Auburndale, including actress Susan Sarandon, musician Paul Simon, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
