Westbury is a village in Nassau County, on Long Island, in the U.S. state of New York. It is located about 18 miles east of Manhattan.

History[edit]

The area now known as Westbury was settled in 1658 by a group of Quakers led by Edmond Titus and Henry Willis. The name "Westbury" was chosen after the town of Westbury in England, the birthplace of one of the settlers, Henry Willis.

Demographics[edit]

As of the 2020 census, the population of Westbury was 15,404. The village is known for its diverse community, with a mix of African American, Hispanic, Asian, and White residents.

Education[edit]

Westbury is served by the Westbury Union Free School District, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Westbury High School.

Transportation[edit]

Westbury is accessible via the Long Island Rail Road's Westbury station, which provides service to Penn Station in Manhattan. The village is also served by several Nassau Inter-County Express bus routes.
